1. ROLE
The post holder will be responsible for key-working service users
working within the principle of harm minimisation where residents
receive a high degree of care, support and dignity. Ensure all service
users? needs are met through needs assessing and support planning.
Working in conjunction with the project team, health initiative team,
dual diagnosis team and hotel staff to ensure wrap around supports are
in place.

2. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
* To ensure the practical needs of our services users are met i.e.
providing food, laundry clean bedding etc. while ensuring a safe and
secure environment in a high standard service.
* To assess the needs of service users and to refer them to
appropriate agencies.
* To provide key working to a number of residents, recording this
work, advocating for them and updating line manager and the team on
progress.
* Supporting Residents ? to maintain positive mental and physical
health.
* Supporting service users with life skills through promoting
self-advocacy and preparation for independent living.
* Supporting service users through key-working processes to identify
needs through assessments and develop plans to meet the needs
identified.
* Working in conjunction with the project team, health initiative
team, dual diagnosis team and hotel staff.
* Managing service related risks.
* Working alongside the Hotel/Security team to ensure the health and
safety of the building, service users, staff and visitors are
maintained at all times.
* Engagement with statutory agencies (Local Authorities/Social
Protection/ Health Services/ etc.
* Medication Management, supporting service users with medication.
Documenting medication and following local procedures in relation to
this.
* Offsite accompaniment if identified as required.
* Managing service related risks.
* Ensuring excellent health and safety standards are maintained.
* Reporting to team and external agencies as required.
* Ensuring all resident files are kept up to date.

3. PERSON REQUIREMENTS
* 2 year?s paid experience working in a social care field,
desirably in a residential setting
* Good working knowledge of risk assessment processes and systems
(i.e. S/U Risk assessment, Lone Working, Activity Risk Assessments)
* Process an understanding of harm reduction and low threshold
working
* Process an understanding of why people become homeless and the
issues they present with, understanding what supports can be offered
in homeless services to service users with complex support needs
* Have experience working with needs assessment, keyworking and
support planning for people with complex needs.
* Have a knowledge of the statutory and voluntary sector resources
available to homeless people
* Understand the importance for Health and Safety in a residential
setting
* Be a good communicator and computer literate
* Knowledge and understanding of Depaul vision mission and values
4. NOTES
While the line manager is specified above, this does not preclude
higher level grades from directing or reviewing work or setting dotted
line collaborative working relationships between same or different
level positions.
All tasks should be completed in an accurate manner and supported by a
clear electronic and hard copy filing system.
Proficient use of IT required in role, including email in a
professional capacity.
